How to induce a trance-like state for self-hypnosis.

Hi, I'm Joseph.

I’m first and fundamentally a teacher. I use an arsenal of different systems from the east to the west to guide men to self-actualisation.

The conscious mind is the only thing that stands in the way of you essentially brainwashing yourself.

You are the creator of your 3D world. This idea is very exciting to most when they hear it.

The truth is a little more complex.

The subconscious accepts all ideas. Even if the ideas are unhelpful or nefarious in nature.

Yes, you are the creator of your joy but also your suffering.

The following techniques are very favourable to getting into a state where the mind is more malleable and programmable. This can be very powerful if you’re looking to do any of the following:

– Rewrite unconscious beliefs
– Magnetise specific people
– Shift into different states
– Attract specific items
– Astral project
– Lucid dream

Here is the system to get into this state:

Step 1: Will.

Do not overlook this.

This is the most important step. So much so, that if you get this correct the rest do not matter. I repeat. If you fail to do this, the other steps are futile.

You need to will yourself to get into this drowsy, light body, semi-lucid state if you are going to actualise it.

So how does one do this?

The best method in my estimation is a combination of written and mental affirmation and rehearsal. However, this must be exercised from the perspective of have being done as opposed to desiring.

Here’s an example:

“I want to get into a drowsy, suggestible state”.

“I will get into a drowsy, suggestible state”.

See the difference?

One comes from a place of lack and weakness; the other from will and strength. It is imperative that you write the latter and not the former.

Do this with pen and paper, there is a stronger neural connection with pen and paper comparatively to typing out the affirmation. Naturally, a question will around frequency. There isn’t an specified numerical answer to this.

The answer is:

Write the affirmation as many times as it takes until you feel a strong, positive emotion.

Once you feel this optimism, you can move onto the next step.

Step 2: Intention.

Your body is now charged with will and energy to get into this suggestible state but once we’re experiencing it, what do we do?

I’ve found in the past that once i experience this state of the body being half-awake but the mind alert I get very excited. It’s like being in the control room of your brain and there’s so much possibilities. Like a kid in the sweet shop your want to try all the flavours.

If you run away with yourself here your intentions become very diffuse and unorganised. That’s why it is imperative that you have already established BEFORE you get into this state, what it is you want to do.

Similarly to ascertaining ‘will’ I write down the intentions with pen and paper before hand. A useful trick is to combine the first part of the affirmation with your intention.

For example:

“I will get into a drowsy, suggestible state and visualise making a new friend”.

This way your mind won’t wander in different directions. It will be single-pointed in direction and focus. It can be beneficial to add more details if you struggle with something like visualisation.

For example:

“I’m shaking hands with my new friend. We’re talking about similar interests. We’re drinking coffee. I’m laughing and feeling joyful”.

Sensory aids help ground your visualisation through the senses:

What can you see?
What can you feel?
What can you hear?
What can you smell?

Remember: the nervous system cannot tell the difference between an imagined scene and a real one.

3. Breath.

A combination of a pranayama breathing technique and PNF-like techniques can consciously move the nervous system into the desired state.

The instructions for the technique are as followed:

1. Lie down on your back
2. Fully contact and relax your muscles 3 times (you can work from bottom up)
3. Place the tongue on the roof of the mouth and relax
4. Exhale through the mouth making a “whoosh” sound
5. Inhale quitely through the nose for 4 seconds
6. Hold for a count of 7
7. Exhale through the mouth for 8 seconds with “whoosh” sound.
8. Repeat 3-5 times

You will feel a great sense of tension leave the body, a calmness and a lightness wash over you. After this allow your breathing to go back to it’s natural rhythm. You will notice it will be slower in nature. Here is your opportunity to repeat your initial affirmation from the perspective of it happening in the here and now:

“I am getting into a drowsy, suggestible state”.

I personally use the mantra:

“My body is asleep, my mind is awake” .

Very soon after you will experience a strange feeling. I’ll try my best to describe it. You’ll feel spacey, light, heady and almost out-of-body. This is quite noticeable. You won’t mistake this for something else. Once you feel this, you’re successfully induced a hypnotic, trance like state. This is where you go through your intention. Have fun.

4. Invitations.

I firmly believe if you go through steps 1-3 (especially 1) you will have success.

However there are some other invitations you can accept to making your mind create greater connections with your intention. Here are some of them:

Scents – you can use smells like lavender to induce this state. It relaxes the body and you can condition yourself to going into hypnosis if you use this trigger with a lot of consistency.

Warm shower/bath – this relaxes the musculo-skeletal system and calms the nervous system. It also helps body temperature drop which happens naturally when going into this state.

Reduce blue-light – usually an hour before going into this state because blue-light inhibits melatonin production, which helps induce this state. You can use blue-light blocking glasses of device filters to the same effect.

Lighting – in general keep lighting low or you can use an eye mask.
